Summer School

The CLU summer school program is the perfect place to practice or review basic skills in reading, math and writing, and get a leg up on the fall. Those in high school also have the option of taking AP, credit recovery or college preparatory classes to boost their readiness for the upcoming school year. Our exciting RAP program is also available during the summer with a fun schedule of activities especially designed to build social relationship skills.

Check back in March 2011 for our Summer Brochure and Program offering.

Academic Programs

CLU offers students in grades 3 through 12 a unique summer school program. This thoughtfully planned, therapeutic environment is designed to enhance both academic success and social relationship learning, and to provide a bridge to the coming school year.

Our low staff/student ratio is ideally suited to providing the close supervision that is needed for those having attention issues, learning disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, bipolar disorder or other learning and adjustment concerns.

Lower/Middle School Summer Program

Our summer program for grades 3 through 8 emphasizes the practice of core academic skills of reading, writing and math, based on State of California standards. Assignments are scaled to the learning needs of each student.

Organization, time management and goal setting are essential components of the program. With the help of staff, each student plots an individual CLU Directions© plan as they prepare for the day and the week. Students work in one-hour segments on reading and writing, followed by a lunch break. The day concludes with math practice.

Upper School Summer Program

Our summer online program has been created for college bound high school students with specific learning disabilities, as well as those who are best served in a small, highly personalized and structured setting. Each day, students practice independent study habits with a teacher.*

Given the pace and rigour of the online content, students are limited to a maximum of two (2) courses during the summer.

*Two credentialed teachers monitor student progress:  an online, credentialed instructor and an in-class CLU credentialed teacher who guides the student using the CLU Directions© (for time management, goal setting, etc.) for up to 1 hour a day. If more intensive assistance or remediation is needed, tutoring is available for an additional fee.
